We had no power. 11K PA at the ready, all set up but our power extension would not reach the 1/2 mile to the nearest power point. Yes, you guessed it, the organisers forgot the small detail of power. Great stage supplied by BOWERING TRANSPORT but no power. By the time it turned up, people had started to leave. Only a handful stayed to watch. THE SHOW MUST GO ON. Personally, I think the stage should have been set facing the beer tent area. That was well patronised. No worries, we are sure we put on a good show. Last night the concert took place at The Black Market in Warsop. Audience numbers were low. Only 66 attended. In-spite of that we raised over &pound;500, which made all the months of planning and hard work worthwhile.Special thanks to Dave and the team at the Black Market. It was their first involvement with our reunion concerts. The Black Market has a reputation of being a &lsquo;rock&rsquo; venue. We suspect the locals didn&rsquo;t support the charity because of that reputation. ... They missed an excellent family night out.... Six live bands for a fiver. What more can you ask? The money was from the &pound;5 a head entrance charge, the cash prize raffle and donations on the night. We are now in the process of organising this years concert. Because this will be the 5th year, we are organising two concerts. The first one to be on 21st May at the Black Market in Warsop and the second is on 15th October and will be at Forest Town Welfare instead of Rainworth miners welfare as it has been for the past four years. What a disappointment to us after traveling all that way and then struggling to park our vehicles and then the long haul with the gear! <strong><em>Railway-men of Leicester unit and go to your club, you don&rsquo;t know what you are missing. </em></strong>Maybe it was because they where expecting a solo act or even a duo with backing tracks/tapes ( with all due respect to solo and duo acts). A bit of something for everyone. Such a <br />diverse collection of music genre.<br />Just one comment...... some very ignorant people talking<br />whilst the ladies of the choir performed their wonderful<br />set. Lets have some respect! Four hours of entertainment<br />for a fiver.<br />Now then..... the total made for the John Eastwood <br />Hospice is over &pound;2000 I think. I don't have the final <br />figure yet. Nor can I report the winning ticket numbers. <br />keep watching this space. What spoilt it for us was<br />the db meter. We spent all night watching the damn <br />thing. Watching instead of relaxing. We've been in the <br />business long enough to know what is a reasonable<br />sound level. Those nasty machines can damage our<br />equipment!<br />We want quality, not volume. It is very difficult with <br />a 'live' drummer on stage ( and I use the phrase loosely!) <br />You can't turn drums down! I suspect that the disco next door <br />was louder than us.<br />Anyways it was a great night in spite of that.<br />Happy birthday to Doris who was 80 years young <br />and disappointed that no one got up to dance.<br />Even our wives didn't get up- very unusual.<br />Shirley........ keep practicing the jokes, especially<br />the delivery.
